PFA discards 350 litres rancid oil, 100 liters substandard liquid, other items

The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) intensified its crackdown against adulteration in children’s food items across Multan and surrounding areas and discarded 350 liters of rancid oil, 100 liters of substandard liquid and 50 kilograms of loose and prohibited ingredients.

MULTAN, Apr 29 (APP):The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) intensified its crackdown against adulteration in children’s food items across Multan and surrounding areas and discarded 350 liters of rancid oil, 100 liters of substandard liquid and 50 kilograms of loose and prohibited ingredients.
Acting on the directives of the Director General PFA, the enforcement teams under the supervision of Director Operations South, Ramiz Zafar, carried out extensive inspections of papad factories, sweets, and confectionery units.
Several violations were identified, prompting strict penalties and enforcement measures.
Inspections were conducted at multiple locations, including Muzaffargarh Bypass, Jinnah Town, MDA Colony, Sewra Chowk, Basti Ali Wala, and Adda Siddiqabad. A papad factory on Muzaffargarh Bypass was fined Rs 200,000 for using rancid oil in frying. Another manufacturing unit in Basti Ali Wala was fined Rs 50,000 for mixing banned substances and artificial coloring agents.
In a separate action, a water plant at MDA Chowk was ordered to halt production until further improvements after failing quality tests. Additionally, a papad factory in Shah Mir Garden was fined Rs. 35,000 after dead insects were found in the food mixture.
The Director General PFA stated that adulteration in children’s food products will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
