During the meeting, Project Director of the Punjab Affordable Housing Program Mohammad Abdullah gave a detailed briefing on ongoing and proposed projects. It was informed that the Punjab government had decided to launch a comprehensive community development
project, with initial plans prepared for Faisalabad and Khanewal under the Punjab Affordable Housing Program.
On the occasion, the minister said construction of more than 1,600 housing units on easy and affordable installments would begin within the current year. He added that residential units would be developed on over 215 kanals of government land in the two districts.
The project would include schools, mosques, essential amenities and basic infrastructure to ensure a complete living environment.
Bilal Yasin further stated that the provincial government would extend subsidies to enable deserving families to acquire these housing units. He noted that the Chief Minister’s Apni Chhat Apna Ghar programme had ignited hope among low-income groups by making home
ownership more accessible. He added that under the Apni Zameen Apna Ghar initiative, around 2,000 families had already been provided with free land, terming it a major step towards social welfare.
The minister expressed confidence that these landmark housing projects would be completed before the start of the new financial year, bringing significant relief to underprivileged segments of society.
