Food safety drive continues in Gujrat

GUJRAT, Apr 23 (APP):On the directives of Deputy Director Punjab Food Authority Rizwan Saeed, an inspection campaign remained underway across the district to ensure provision of safe and quality food to the public.
According to official sources, a total of 140 inspections were carried out during the campaign. As many as 86 improvement notices were issued over violations, while fines amounting to Rs78,000 were imposed on nine food business operators.
During the crackdown, one food outlet was sealed over serious violations. Moreover, seven samples were collected and sent to the laboratory for analysis.
The teams also discarded 5.75 kilograms of expired and unhygienic food items during the inspections.
The Punjab Food Authority reiterated its commitment to ensuring availability of safe food and warned that strict legal action would continue against violators without interruption.
