FESCO launches energy conservation drive to cut bills, ease power load in region

The Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO) has launched a comprehensive awareness campaign to promote prudent electricity use and energy conservation across the region for reducing system load and helping the consumers to lower their monthly bills.

FAISALABAD, Apr 23 (APP):The Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO) has launched a comprehensive awareness campaign to promote prudent electricity use and energy conservation across the region for reducing system load and helping the consumers to lower their monthly bills.
FESCO spokesman Muhammad Saeed Raza said here on Thursday that the campaign, initiated under special directives of the Ministry of Energy (Power Division), is being led by FESCO Chief Executive Officer Engineer Muhammad Aamir.
It focuses on creating awareness among consumers about efficient energy usage, discouraging unnecessary electricity consumption, and ensuring long-term sustainability of the power system.
He said that the power demand and supply currently remain balanced during daytime in the region. However, load management is being carried out during night hours if a gap emerges between demand and supply.
He urged the consumers to adopt responsible electricity usage habits to maintain system stability and ensure uninterrupted power supply in the future.
He advised the consumers to avoid unnecessary use of high-load electrical appliances during peak hours including electric motors, irons, ovens, and similar energy-intensive devices.
Agricultural users should also refrain from operating tube wells during peak times to reduce pressure on the grid, he added.
He said that this campaign would help encourage the consumers for maximum utilization of natural daylight during daytime to minimize electricity consumption.
The consumers should also use electricity strictly according to their sanctioned load and ensure that all electrical appliances are switched off when leaving homes or offices, as well as before going to sleep, he added.
He said that the use of energy-efficient LED and energy saver bulbs is highly recommended in homes and workplaces. Similarly, setting computers and digital devices to auto-sleep mode, operating air conditioners at 26 degrees Celsius, and maintaining optimal temperature settings for refrigerators and other appliances can result in substantial energy savings, he added.
He also highlighted that appliances left on standby mode also consume electricity and should be completely switched off to prevent wastage.
Meanwhile, FESCO Chief Executive Officer Engineer Muhammad Aamir emphasized that collective efforts can not only reduce pressure on the distribution system but also bring down consumers’ monthly expenses.
He termed the efficient energy use as a national responsibility and urged every citizen to play their role in conserving limited energy resources.
He appealed to the public to fully cooperate with the campaign so that uninterrupted electricity supply can be ensured across the FESCO region while strengthening stability in the energy sector.
