In her message on World Earth Day, the chief minister said the day highlights global environmental challenges and serves as a reminder that the earth is not only for the present generation but a trust for the future. She emphasized the need for collective efforts to protect natural resources and trees.
The CM paid tribute to individuals and organizations working for environmental protection and harmony with nature, and directed all provincial ministers to actively participate in plantation drives and public awareness campaigns for environmental conservation.
The chief minister stressed forest protection, reduction in carbon emissions, and promotion of a green economy, stating that Punjab has adopted a zero-waste plastic policy. She also highlighted the establishment of the province’s first “Smart Environment Force” for environmental protection.
CM Maryam Nawaz said controlling pollution, conserving natural resources, and mitigating the effects of climate change are essential for improving environmental health. She added that the government is working on a 10-year climate change action plan along with several mega projects aimed at improving environmental conditions and ensuring a greener, healthier future for coming generations.
