Minister reviews 1,951-km road restoration programme across province

LAHORE, Apr 22 (APP):Punjab Minister for Communication and Works (C&W) Malik Sohail Ahmed Bharth reviewed the ongoing road restoration programme across Punjab and directed authorities to accelerate construction work to ensure timely completion of all schemes.
Chairing a high-level review meeting, here on Wednesday, the minister was briefed that the programme has achieved 76.71 percent physical progress, with rehabilitation work underway on 1,951 kilometres of roads across the province. Officials further informed that 57 out of 86 schemes are currently in progress.
The meeting, attended online by the Secretary C&W Raja Jahangir Anwar, Special Secretary, Additional Secretary, Chief Engineers and XENs, reviewed the pace and quality of ongoing construction activities.
The minister noted that progress in Rajanpur, Khanewal, Multan, Hafizabad, Gujranwala, Jhelum and Muzaffargarh was satisfactory. However, he directed officials in Okara, Bahawalnagar, Sahiwal and Murree to improve performance and speed up work.
Malik Sohail Ahmed Bharth emphasized that timely completion of road projects remains a top priority of the government, adding that improved road infrastructure is essential for ensuring better connectivity and facilitating public travel across Punjab.
