LAHORE, Apr 22 (APP):The Lahore district administration arrested 26 violators and sealed 19 shops during a crackdown against profiteering and market standard operation procedures (SOPs) violations, here on Wednesday.
During the ongoing campaign to ensure price control and protect consumer rights, authorities conducted 5,739 market inspections across the city. Action was taken in 53 cases of violations, while fines amounting to Rs567,500 were imposed on offenders.
Deputy Commissioner Lahore Muhammad Ali Ejaz directed strict enforcement of officially notified price lists and ordered indiscriminate action against artificial inflation. He also instructed immediate legal proceedings against hoarders. Citizens have been encouraged to report complaints regarding overpricing through helpline 03070002345 or via official social media platforms.
DC Muhammad Ali Ejaz reiterated that daily operations against profiteering would continue to maintain market stability and safeguard public interest.
Meanwhile, the district administration demolished five illegal buildings and sealed four others during a targeted operation against unlawful constructions in seven areas, including Sultan Pura, Haq Nawaz Road and Tariq Shaheed Road.
Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Ali Ejaz said a zero-tolerance policy was being enforced, adding that identification and action against illegal constructions would continue on a daily basis to uphold the rule of law.
