Minister Bharth reviews progress on local road rehabilitation programme

LAHORE, Apr 21 (APP): Punjab Minister for Communication and Works (C&W) Malik Sohaib Ahmed Bharth has reviewed the progress of the Chief Minister Punjab Local Road Program and directed officials to further accelerate ongoing development work across the province.
A meeting held under his chairmanship was attended online by Secretary C&W Raja Jahangir Anwar, Special Secretary, Additional Secretary, Chief Engineers and XENs, where a detailed briefing was given on the “Sohna Pind Sohniyan Rahon” rural road initiative.
Officials informed the meeting that the pace of initiating road works under the programme has increased by 202.48 percent, with ongoing schemes rising significantly from 444 to 1,343 within a week.
The meeting was told that rehabilitation of link roads in 1,530 villages is currently in progress, while repair and improvement work is underway on 3,301 kilometres of roads across Punjab. The physical progress of the project has reached 26.13 percent.
The minister directed that work on the remaining 187 roads should be initiated without delay and stressed that the programme must be completed by June as per the set timeline.
He further instructed officials to ensure the use of high-quality construction materials and warned that no negligence or delay will be tolerated. Malik Sohaib Ahmed Bharth said strict action will be taken in case of any violation, reiterating the government’s focus on improving rural connectivity and infrastructure development across Punjab.
