SCCI hosts consultative meeting on regulatory reforms, business facilitation

Sargodha Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) on Tuesday hosted a consultative meeting with the Punjab Enforcement and Regulatory Authority (PERA) Sub-Divisional Enforcement Officer (SDEO) Zafar Abbas Khan, to deliberate on the development of a structured regulatory framework and measures to enhance ease of doing business.

SARGODHA, Apr 21 (APP):Sargodha Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) on Tuesday hosted a consultative meeting with the Punjab Enforcement and Regulatory Authority (PERA) Sub-Divisional Enforcement Officer (SDEO) Zafar Abbas Khan, to deliberate on the development of a structured regulatory framework and measures to enhance ease of doing business.
According to SCCI spokesperson here, the session was chaired by President Khawaja Yasir Qayyum and attended by prominent business leaders, including former presidents Khawaja Abid Rafiq, Fazal-ur-Rehman Khalil, and Sheikh Zia Amin, along with members of the executive committee and other stakeholders.
During the meeting, Chairman of the Standing Committee on Metropolitan Affairs, Naveed Shehzad, delivered a comprehensive briefing highlighting the urgent need for a balanced regulatory environment.
He stressed bridging the communication gap between PERA force and the business community and advocated a shift towards a “guidance-first” inspection approach.
He further emphasized the need for stricter action against large-scale price manipulation mafias instead of disproportionately targeting small retailers.
Discussions also focused on establishing joint liaison committees and improving awareness about PERA’s jurisdiction and mandate to ensure a transparent and harassment-free business climate.
SCCI Senior Vice President Mian Muhammad Imran, concluded the session by expressing gratitude to the visiting officials, executive members, and all stakeholders for their participation.
At the end, the Chamber presented an honorary shield to Zafar Abbas Khan as a token of appreciation and institutional collaboration.
