World community now eying China: Malik

LAHORE, Apr 19 (APP): SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry former president Iftikhar Ali Malik said on Sunday that China had managed to attract the global attention as the world community was now looking towards it, while Pakistan was emerging among top five countries most friendly towards prevailing international scenario.
In a media statement here, Malik said that new world order spearheaded by China was now backed by the world’s majority, adding that international surveys suggest that China’s global approval rating rose to 36 per cent last year overtaking the US with 31 percent.
The findings showed that  first time in nearly two decades, Beijing had an edge regarding worldwide leadership
perception.
Malik further said, the results reflect a broader geopolitical moment in which many countries were reassessing their alignment in an increasingly fragmented and multi-polar world.
He observed that US leadership had been dented by a combination of foreign policy decisions, economic uncertainty particularly fuel prices surge in the wake of escalating tensions with Iran and political polarisation at home.
