KARACHI, Apr 17 (APP):On the occasion of “World Hemophilia Day”, the Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) stands in solidarity with individuals across the nation living with inherited bleeding disorders. This year, PMA highlights the critical theme: “Diagnosis: The First Step to Care.”
The press release issued by PMA (Centre) states that, Hemophilia is a rare genetic condition where blood fails to clot properly due to a deficiency in clotting factors. Without a timely and accurate diagnosis, many patients remain at risk of life-threatening internal bleeding and permanent joint damage.
The PMA emphasizes that awareness is the most powerful tool in managing this Condition. Recognizing the signs early is essential for a high quality of life:Families should stay vigilant for symptoms such as frequent nosebleeds, easy bruising, or prolonged bleeding after minor cuts or dental work.
A formal diagnosis is the gateway to life-saving clotting factor concentrates.The PMA suggested to the government to ensure that diagnostic facilities and specialized hematologists are accessible at the district level.
