ISLAMABAD, Apr 16 (APP): Chairperson Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), Senator Rubina Khalid, held a key meeting with President Bank Alfalah, Atif Bajwa, to advance efforts aimed at modernising payment systems for beneficiaries and unlocking new livelihood opportunities through strategic collaboration.
The meeting, held in Karachi, focused on enhancing the efficiency and transparency of the payment mechanism for BISP beneficiaries, while also exploring avenues to generate sustainable income opportunities through the Benazir Hunarmand Programme and Bank Alfalah’s Alfa Mall platform.

During the discussion, both sides deliberated on introducing interoperability in the payment system, enabling beneficiary women to choose a bank of their preference.
The initiative is expected to improve convenience, ensure greater financial inclusion, and strengthen service delivery standards.

The participants also reviewed measures to enhance transparency, security, and accessibility of the payment system, reaffirming their commitment to improving the overall beneficiary experience.
A detailed discussion was held on scaling up the Benazir Hunarmand Programme. It was agreed to leverage the Alfa Mall platform to expand outreach and create skill-based earning opportunities for BISP beneficiaries, helping them achieve greater financial independence, said a news release.
The other key matters related to facilitating beneficiaries were also reviewed, with consensus on making the system more robust and user-friendly.
Director General Cash Transfers BISP Muhammad Idrees Mian, DG Sindh Sanaullah Rind, and Consultant Naveed Khan were also present during the meeting.
