Muqam draws Ghanche’s legal minds into PML-N, unveils sweeping solar and education push for GB

ISLAMABAD, Apr 16 (APP):Prominent lawyers from Gilgit-Baltistan’s Ghanche district on Thursday joined the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) during a meeting with Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs, Gilgit-Baltistan and SAFRON Engineer Amir Muqam in Islamabad, alongside welcoming the new entrants, the minister outlined the government’s plans for solar energy expansion, education reforms and infrastructure development in the region.
The lawyers who joined the PML-N included Muhammad Ali Yar Advocate, Hajira Advocate, Habiba Advocate, Abdul Karim Advocate and M. Israr Advocate. District President Ghanche Sultan Ali Khan, Sacho Nargis Fatima and Muhammad Asif Advocate were also present on the occasion.

At the ceremony, Mr Muqam received the lawyers into the party, presenting them with caps and mufflers as a symbolic gesture of welcome. He said the PML-N remained a strong and organised political force, equipped with a dynamic team committed to national development and public service.
Praising Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s leadership, the minister said the country is moving towards economic stability under his stewardship. He also lauded the role of the armed forces under Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir for ensuring national security and stability.
Highlighting government initiatives for Gilgit-Baltistan, the minister said the Prime Minister’s Solar Panel Scheme 2026 had been launched to address chronic power shortages by providing free or subsidised solar systems to eligible households.

He added that a 100-megawatt solar project aimed to end prolonged electricity outages and promote clean energy in remote mountainous areas.
Mr Muqam further said that Danish schools are being established across all three divisions of Gilgit-Baltistan to provide quality, internationally competitive education along with boarding facilities for children from underprivileged families.
He reiterated that improving access to healthcare, education and basic infrastructure for the people of Gilgit-Baltistan remained a top government priority, adding that ongoing road construction projects would boost tourism and bring economic prosperity to the region.
Mr Muqam assured party workers that his office would remain accessible at all times and that he would continue efforts to further strengthen the party.
The newly inducted members expressed full confidence in the leadership of Nawaz Sharif, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Amir Muqam and Hafiz Hafeezur Rehman, pledging to work towards strengthening the party.
