BEIJING, Apr 11 (APP):A significant milestone in China–Pakistan healthcare cooperation was marked with the inauguration of the China–Pakistan Neurosurgery Joint Training and Medical Tourism Center at the 11th East Lake International Cerebrovascular Surgery Forum held in Wuhan, China.
The initiative is a collaboration between Wuhan University Zhongnan Hospital, the Punjab Institute of Neurosciences (PINS), and the China Pakistan Medical Association (CPMA). It aims to strengthen neurosurgical capacity, enhance medical education, and promote medical tourism between the two countries.
The ceremony was attended by leading experts and officials, including Professor Chen Jiangcao, Professor Asif Bashir, and Dr. Muhammad Shahbaz, along with representatives from the Hubei Provincial Government and the Embassy of Pakistan in China.
Speakers described the center as a “historic milestone” that will advance patient care through knowledge exchange, joint research, and specialized training. The initiative is also expected to support broader cooperation under the Belt and Road framework and contribute to the development of the China–Pakistan Health Corridor.
A key highlight was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Zhongnan Hospital and PINS, formalizing collaboration in clinical training, academic exchange, research, and patient care.
The newly established center is set to serve as a flagship model for bilateral healthcare cooperation, promoting innovation, capacity building, and improved health outcomes for both nations.
