Kohat authorities crack down on overcharging, poor hygiene in markets and transport

KOHAT, Apr 8 (APP):Following directives from Deputy Commissioner Kohat, Mr. Muhammad Nawaz, Additional Assistant Commissioner Gambat, Syed Mukhtiar Shah on Wednesday conducted thorough inspections of fast food outlets, fruit and vegetable shops, and grocery stores along Pindi Road. The focus was on hygiene standards, food quality, and compliance with government-approved price lists.
During the inspections, several shopkeepers were issued warnings for poor cleanliness and violations of official rates. Immediate corrective measures were ordered, and all vendors were instructed to maintain proper sanitation, provide high-quality products, and strictly adhere to official pricing.
The inspection team later visited Peshawar Adda at Hangu Phatak to assess transport stands. During the visit, one driver was found overcharging passengers above the government-fixed fare, prompting immediate corrective action and full refunds to affected passengers.
Drivers were formally warned to comply with the official fare list, with authorities cautioning that any future violations would result in legal action.
