Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh highlights economic gains, regional peace efforts

ISLAMABAD, Apr 08 (APP):Federal Minister for Board of Investment Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh on Wednesday spoke about recent positive developments in Pakistan’s economy and its growing international standing.
Speaking in the National Assembly, he said oil prices in Pakistan have fallen by 15 percent recently, offering temporary but meaningful relief to consumers.
“There has been unnecessary worry over oil prices in the past few days. Globally, prices have dropped, and Pakistan has quickly benefited from this,” he added.
Sheikh also pointed to the benefits of recent regional peace initiatives. “With sanctions on Iran lifted, both countries are now cooperating. This gives Pakistan access to pipelines and cheaper energy, which will help stabilize domestic prices,” he said.
On the economic front, Sheikh said that Pakistan is starting to attract foreign investment, a sharp change from the past when commitments from Gulf countries were limited. “Pakistan’s role in promoting regional peace has boosted confidence, which will bring major investments and support our IMF programs and economic stability,” he explained.
He praised the diplomatic efforts that helped end regional conflicts and suggested that Pakistan’s leadership deserves global recognition. “I propose this House pass a resolution recommending Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir for the Nobel Peace Prize for their role in stopping a major conflict and saving millions of lives,” he said.
Sheikh stressed that these developments give Pakistan a unique position in global diplomacy and economic opportunities.
“The confidence and stability Pakistan has shown recently will attract significant international investment. The world is watching Pakistan closely,” he added.
