ISLAMABAD, Apr 08 (APP):The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast mainly dry weather in most parts of the country on Thursday, with chances of isolated rain-wind and thunderstorms in upper regions during daytime.
According to the Met Office, areas likely to receive scattered rain include upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, northeast Punjab, Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. Some locations may also experience gusty winds and occasional hailstorms.
In Islamabad, partly cloudy weather is expected, with a 40 percent probability of rain and thunderstorms during daytime.
Most districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will remain dry; however, rain with wind and thunderstorms is likely at isolated places including Chitral, Dir, Swat, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Peshawar and surrounding areas.
Similarly, dry weather is expected across most of Punjab, although cities such as Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Gujranwala, Sialkot and Lahore may witness isolated rain-thunderstorm activity, with chances of hailstorms at a few places.
The weather in Sindh and Balochistan is expected to remain dry, while partly cloudy conditions with light rain are forecast at isolated locations in Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.
During the last 24 hours, widespread rain-windstorms and thunderstorms, including isolated heavy falls and hailstorms, were recorded in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Islamabad and Kashmir. Rainfall was also reported at a few places in Jacobabad, while the weather remained dry in other parts of the country.
The significant rainfall (in mm) included Rawalakot (37), Gujranwala (30), Kot Addu (28), Attock (26), Murree and Narowal (21), and Peshawar (28). Islamabad recorded up to 15 mm of rain in Bokra and 13 mm at the airport.
The highest maximum temperature recorded on Wednesday was 37C in Shaheed Benazirabad, while Turbat, Lasbella, Chhor, Mithi, Dadu, Mohenjo-daro and Mirpur Khas recorded 36C.
In Islamabad, the temperature ranged between 12C (minimum) and 18C (maximum), while Lahore recorded 13C to 25C and Karachi 23C to 33C.
The PMD has advised the public to remain cautious of gusty winds and possible hailstorms in vulnerable areas during the forecast period.
