ISLAMABAD, Apr 08 (APP):Former prime minister and senior PPP leader Raja Pervaiz Ashraf on Wednesday termed Pakistan’s recent diplomatic achievement a “historic milestone,” saying it has brought pride and renewed confidence to the nation at a time of global uncertainty.
Addressing the National Assembly, he said that by the grace of Almighty Allah, Pakistan had secured a significant success at a time when the world was facing widespread uncertainty and tension affecting all segments of society.
He extended congratulations to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir, the government, the opposition, and the entire nation, terming the achievement a collective victory.
Ashraf noted that the situation had been highly complex and critical, with far-reaching implications. He said Pakistan’s efforts helped avert a potentially devastating outcome that could have caused immense loss to humanity.
He emphasized that the success was the result of coordinated efforts between the political leadership and state institutions, highlighting the importance of unity and effective diplomacy.
Appreciating the opposition’s role, he specifically mentioned Mahmood Khan Achakzai for demonstrating political wisdom and prioritizing national interest during a sensitive time.
He said Pakistan’s global standing had improved significantly, with the country being recognized for its constructive role in promoting peace. He also pointed to Pakistan’s balanced relations with regional countries, including Iran, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.
Stressing the need for national cohesion, Ashraf urged all political forces to rise above differences and work collectively for the country’s progress and stability.
“Pakistan’s honour is the honour of every citizen. We must remain united and use this moment to strengthen our country,” he said.
He concluded by calling for gratitude to Almighty Allah and reaffirmed that the protection and progress of Pakistan are a shared responsibility of all its citizens.
