FAISALABAD, Apr 08 (APP):The government of Punjab has launched out a mega “Kissan Diesel Subsidy Program” worth Rs23 billion aimed at providing financial relief to wheat growers across the province, here on Wednesday.
According to a spokesperson for the Agriculture (Extension) department, the initiative seeks to ease the burden of rising input costs by subsidising diesel used during key stages of wheat cultivation, including land preparation, sowing and irrigation.
Under the scheme, farmers owning up to 25 acres of land will be eligible for assistance.
The program was expected to benefit nearly 4 million farmers, making it one of the largest agricultural support initiatives undertaken in the province.

More than 800,000 Kissan cards holders will receive direct financial assistance in their bank accounts,a move aimed at ensuring transparency and timely disbursement of funds.
Officials said that the initiative reflects the government’s commitment to strengthening the agricultural sector amid escalating costs and to ensuring food security.
They added that such measures would not only support farmers but also help boost wheat production and contribute to broader economic stability in the province.
