According to a PHF press release issued here, Olympian Samiullah Khan, already serving as Chairman of Selectors, will lead the newly-formed national selection committee. The body will operate under his supervision to ensure a transparent and merit-based selection process.
In line with the recommendations of the PHF Professional Development Committee, the selection committee includes Naeem Akhtar, Kashif Jawad, Muhammad Khalid, Atif Bashir and Nasir Ali as members.
The federation has also named head coaches for all three tiers. Olympian Manzoor-ul-Hasan has been appointed head coach of the Pakistan senior hockey team, while Ayaz Mahmood will take charge of the junior team. Qamar Ibrahim has been entrusted with coaching responsibilities for the Pakistan under-18 side.
Under the newly notified rules and procedures, the relevant head coach will be included in the selection process as a member of the committee during team selection. This measure is intended to align player selection with team requirements while upholding merit.
