RAWALPINDI, Apr 07 (APP): The Murree district administration has launched a survey to assess damage and facilitate relief for families affected by a landslide in Jhika Gali, while Deputy Commissioner Murree Agha Zaheer Abbas Shirazi visited the affected area, a spokesman said on Tuesday.
The survey, initiated on the directives of the deputy commissioner, is being carried out to determine losses and ensure timely assistance to the affected families. Rescue 1122 and other relevant departments are participating in the process, examining damage to houses, infrastructure, and other assets.
Meanwhile, the deputy commissioner reviewed relief measures during his visit and met families impacted by the landslide.
He assured them of full support, saying that all available resources would be utilized to provide relief in this difficult time.
DC Shirazi, on the occasion, directed all departments to expedite assistance efforts and remain on high alert. He noted that officers and personnel were present in the field to address the situation and urged residents and tourists to follow the administration’s advisory amid prevailing weather conditions.
An administration spokesman said restoration work in the affected area was under way, including clearance of debris, reopening of routes, and measures to eliminate risks to the public on an emergency basis.
Later, a delegation of lawyers met the deputy commissioner and discussed damages caused by the landslide, difficulties faced by residents and proposed immediate relief measures.
Shirazi said the district administration was fully mobilized to tackle the situation and ensure prompt rehabilitation of affected areas.
He emphasized that all possible facilities would be provided to the victims and that no negligence would be tolerated in relief and restoration efforts.
