The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) discarded 1,350 liters of adulterated milk, lodged an FIR, confiscated a supplier vehicle, and imposed fines on three violators during a province-wide crackdown against milk adulteration.

LAHORE, Apr 07 (APP): The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) discarded 1,350 liters of adulterated milk, lodged an FIR, confiscated a supplier vehicle, and imposed fines on three violators during a province-wide crackdown against milk adulteration.
The action was taken on the directions of Director General Muhammad Asim Javaid. Additional Director General (Operations) conducted early morning inspections at Thokar Niaz Baig and other entry points of Lahore to ensure the supply of safe milk.
According to a PFA spokesperson, food safety teams checked around 159,000 liters of milk transported in 164 supply vehicles at city entry points. The monitoring drive was intensified, and samples were declared substandard after failing quality tests.
The DG PFA stated that the adulterated milk was being prepared using powdered substances, chemicals, and substandard ghee to imitate pure milk and was intended for distribution in various parts of Lahore. He termed milk adulteration a serious public health hazard and warned of strict action against offenders.
He further said there is zero tolerance for those involved in the preparation and sale of fake milk under the guise of purity. He added that, in line with the vision of the Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, sustained efforts are underway to ensure the supply of safe and quality food products across the province.
The DG urged citizens to support PFA in eliminating the adulteration mafia and report violations on the PFA helpline 1223.
