DC Abbottabad announces new business hours to conserve energy

ABBOTTABAD, Apr 07 (APP): Deputy Commissioner Abbottabad, Sarmad Salim Akram, has announced new business hours and energy conservation measures for the district, stating that the steps are aimed at ensuring electricity availability in the public interest and reducing the additional financial burden on citizens.
Presiding over an important meeting on energy conservation, the DC warned that strict legal action would be taken against violators of government orders.
A meeting regarding effective energy use and electricity conservation was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Abbottabad, Sarmad Salim Akram, attended by Additional Deputy Commissioners, SP Cantt, all Assistant Commissioners, district officers, and Trade Union officials.
In light of the current fuel and electricity situation in the country and in accordance with the directives of the provincial government, decisions were made for immediate implementation of new business hours and energy conservation measures in Abbottabad district.
According to the decisions of the meeting, markets, shopping plazas, and commercial centers will close by 9:00 PM, while restaurants, cafes, and other eateries will close by 10:00 PM. However, home delivery and takeaway services will be exempt.
Similarly, wedding halls, marquees, and other events must conclude by 10:00 PM.
For electricity conservation, it was also decided that illuminated billboards, LED screens, and digital display boards will remain off after closing hours, while the use of unnecessary floodlights, spotlights, and decorative lighting will be completely prohibited.
Furthermore, the use of generators for unnecessary commercial activities after closing hours will not be permitted, and strict energy savings will be ensured in all government offices.
The meeting clarified that hospitals, laboratories and emergency services, medical stores (under specified conditions), tandoors, and petrol pumps will be exempt from these hours.
Deputy Commissioner Sarmad Salim Akram appealed to the Trade Union and the public to fully cooperate in this national campaign, warning that strict legal action will be taken against violators of government orders.
