KARACHI, Apr 07 (APP):Karachi administration’s campaign against footpath and roadside encroachments, illegal parking, including sale of unsafe LPG gas in violation of SOP issued by the commissioner continued.
Commissioner Karachi Syed Hassan Naqvi chaired a meeting with Deputy Commissioners and Assistant Commissioners to review the campaign.
Deputy Commissioners briefed the commissioner about action taken against encroachment and illegal parking including sale of unsafe LPG gas saying that most encroachments identified during the Commissioner’s visit paid have been removed.
They also briefed on actions against those selling unsafe LPG gas. It was informed to the commissioner that 12 persons who were responsible for the illegal parking of rickshaws along the business recorder road on footpaths and on its median including those found selling Unsafe LPG gas.
According to the details 10 shops were sealed in Gulshan-e-Iqbal.
The Commissioner directed the Deputy Commissioners to take action against those responsible of encroachments .
Deputy Commissioner East Nasrullah Abbasi said that Assistant Commissioner Jamshed Bilal Alvi removed rickshaw parking from footpaths and roads, arresting 8 people involved.
The Commissioner emphasized ensuring encroachments don’t recur and directed FIRs against repeat offenders. It was decided that in a meeting that a market for a month for non-compliance with rules.
According to the report Assistant Commissioner Gulshan Iqbal Salim Gaddani sealed 10 LPG gas shops and arresting 3 people for selling unsafe gas. The Commissioner directed Deputy Commissioners to only de seal shops if they h safety certificates from civil defence and not located in residential areas.
The meeting was informed about an arrest in Metroville for obstructing footpaths by selling watermelons. Deputy Commissioner Central Taha Saleem briefed in details regarding actios taken against encroachments in District Central. According to the report anti encrochment operation were taken in central district on 18 locations.
