2 robbers killed in police encounter in Bilal Colony
KARACHI, Apr 06 (APP):Two alleged robbers were killed in an exchange of fire with police within the limits of Bilal Colony police station in Central District, police said on Monday.
According to SSP District Central Dr Muhammad Imran Khan, the encounter took place near the turn of Sector 5J when police, on patrol, received information about suspicious motorcyclists involved in a street crime incident who had allegedly injured a citizen upon resistance.
Acting on the information, Bilal Colony police pursued the suspects, who opened fire on the police party. The police retaliated, leading to an exchange of fire.
As a result, two alleged robbers were killed on the spot.
During the firing, a police constable, Talha Magsi, sustained injuries and was shifted to hospital for medical treatment.
Police said the identification process of the deceased suspects was underway, while further details were being gathered.
Two pistols with loaded magazines, a mobile phone and a motorcycle were recovered from the possession of the suspects. Further legal proceedings are in progress.
