SUKKUR, Apr 06 (APP): Commissioner Sukkur Abid Saleem Qureshi visited the Deputy Commissioner Office Khairpur, where he inspected the control room and received a briefing on the situation regarding measles, chickenpox, and other skin diseases in the district.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Khairpur, Altaf Ahmad Chachar and District Health Officer (DHO) Dr. Barkat Kanahar on Monday briefed the commissioner on the measures taken to control the outbreak. The control room is operational 24/7 and complaints are being addressed promptly.
The DHO reported that health teams are working in the field, providing timely medical facilities to affected children. Isolation wards have been established in hospitals and patients are being treated separately, with a focus on children.
Commissioner Qureshi expressed satisfaction with the briefing and directed the authorities to intensify efforts to prevent and control the diseases. He emphasized the need for increased awareness campaigns, improved hygiene and precautionary measures.
The commissioner also stressed the importance of coordination between the health department and district administration, ensuring vaccination and screening of children in schools and uninterrupted supply of medicines and medical facilities.
The district administration and health department’s efforts were appreciated and the commissioner directed that the response mechanism be made more effective to tackle any emergency situation.
