PESHAWAR, Apr 05 (APP): Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi on Sunday expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and widespread damage caused by recent rains across the province.
In a condolence message, he extended heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved families and said the provincial government and relevant institutions stand with the affected people in this difficult time. He also prayed for the eternal peace of the deceased and early recovery of the injured.
The Governor termed the incidents of deaths caused by collapsing roofs and walls as deeply tragic, saying that children, women and men were among the victims.
He appreciated the ongoing efforts of the Provincial Disaster Management Authority, Rescue 1122 and district administrations, and directed authorities to expedite relief and rehabilitation measures to ensure immediate assistance to affected families.
The Governor also directed the Pakistan Red Crescent Society to actively participate in relief operations and provide immediate assistance, including essential supplies and support, to the affected people in the rain-hit areas.
He further instructed officials to ensure timely financial support and provision of shelter to those impacted, while taking precautionary steps in view of the forecast of more rains in the coming days.
Urging the public to remain cautious, the Governor advised citizens to avoid unnecessary travel, stay away from vulnerable areas and strictly follow official advisories to prevent any untoward incidents.
