Balochistan govt enforces new timings for markets, wedding halls, and restaurants to conserve energy

QUETTA, Apr 05 (APP): The Balochistan government has formally begun implementing key measures aimed at conserving energy and shielding citizens from the impact of rising inflation.
Acting on decisions taken in a recent meeting chaired by Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, the provincial Home Department on Sunday has issued a notification revising operating hours for markets, wedding halls, and restaurants.
According to Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Hamza Shafqat, markets and shopping centers must close by 8:00 p.m., while pharmacies, bakeries, and tandoors are exempt from the restriction. Wedding halls, banquet halls, and hotel events must conclude by 10:00 p.m., and restaurants are also required to shut down by 10:00 p.m.
The directive mandates district administrations and law enforcement agencies to strictly enforce these timings, with violators facing legal action under relevant laws.
The Home Department has instructed all divisional commissioners, deputy commissioners, and police officers to ensure immediate compliance and notify stakeholders accordingly.
The provincial government has appealed to the public to cooperate with these measures, stressing that the initiative is designed to address the energy crisis and provide effective relief to citizens.
