Rain death toll climbs to 45 in KP as widespread damage mounts

Torrential rains continue to wreak havoc across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with the death toll rising to 45 and injuries reaching 105, according to the latest report issued by the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA).

PESHAWAR, Apr 05 (APP): Torrential rains continue to wreak havoc across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with the death toll rising to 45 and injuries reaching 105, according to the latest report issued by the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA).
The updated figures show a sharp increase in casualties caused mainly by the collapse of roofs and walls during heavy downpours. Among the deceased are 23 children, 17 men, and 5 women, while the injured include 45 men, 16 women, and 44 children.
The scale of destruction has also expanded significantly, with a total of 442 houses reported damaged so far. Of these, 60 houses have been completely destroyed, while 382 sustained partial damage.
Earlier reports had confirmed livestock losses, further compounding the financial difficulties faced by affected families in various districts.
The impact of the rains has now spread across a wide range of districts, including Bannu, Abbottabad, Mardan, Bajaur, Hangu, Mohmand, Kohat, North Waziristan, Peshawar, Khyber, Nowshera, Dera Ismail Khan, Kurram, Lakki Marwat, Shangla, Battagram, Lower Kohistan, Mansehra, Torghar, Swat, Upper Dir, Charsadda, Buner, Malakand, Lower Dir, Orakzai, South Waziristan, and Tank.
PDMA, Rescue 1122, and district administrations are continuing relief operations in affected areas, with emergency assistance being dispatched. Authorities have directed local administrations to accelerate relief and rehabilitation efforts and ensure timely support to affected families.
Meanwhile, PDMA has warned of another spell of rain expected from April 6 to April 9 and urged citizens to avoid unnecessary travel and follow official advisories.
