The Islamabad Transport Authority (ITA) has announced that the transport fares within the city will remain unchanged despite a revision in petroleum prices.

ISLAMABAD, Apr 05 (APP): The Islamabad Transport Authority (ITA) has announced that the transport fares within the city will remain unchanged despite a revision in petroleum prices.
The decision comes as part of efforts to maintain fixed fares, with authorities warning of action against overcharging and asking citizens to report violations on 051-9108084.
According to officials, the government has recently revised the prices of petroleum products. However, the Islamabad Transport Authority has decided not to increase fares for intra-city transport following this change.
A spokesperson said that fares for vehicles operating within the city, including Hiace vans, will remain the same. Transport operators have been directed to follow the existing fare structure without any increase.
The Islamabad Transport Association has also issued instructions to all its members, asking them to comply with the decision and avoid charging passengers above the approved rates.
Authorities made it clear that any vehicle found charging more than the set fare will face action. Drivers and vehicles involved in overcharging will be taken to the police station for further legal steps.
The Chairman of the Islamabad Transport Authority has urged citizens to help in monitoring the situation by identifying transport vehicles that violate fare rules. He asked passengers to remain aware of the approved fares and report any case of overcharging.
Residents can register complaints by calling the control room at 051-9108084. Officials have advised citizens to provide the vehicle number while filing a complaint to ensure prompt action.
The administration stated that strict monitoring will continue across the city to ensure compliance. Field teams will check transport vehicles on different routes to confirm that fares are being charged according to the approved schedule.
Officials said that maintaining stable fares is aimed at providing relief to passengers and preventing sudden increases in daily travel costs. They added that cooperation from transporters and the public is necessary for effective implementation of the decision.
The transport authority reiterated that no increase in fares has been approved, and any violation will lead to legal action. Citizens have been encouraged to report such cases so that enforcement teams can respond quickly.
