LAHORE, Apr 04 (APP):Punjab Minister for Local Government & Community Development Zeeshan Rafique on Saturday extended heartfelt Easter greetings to the Christian community, including Christian workers of the Suthra Punjab initiative, on the auspicious occasion of Easter.
In his message, the minister said that according to the Christian faith, Easter is a festival of joy and happiness marking the end of fasting, adding that Muslims equally share in the joys of their Christian brothers and sisters.
He said that the Christian community is playing an active and positive role in the development and stability of the country, while the Constitution of Pakistan fully guarantees the rights of minorities.
Emphasizing interfaith harmony, Zeeshan Rafique said that there is a need to reaffirm collective resolve to strengthen unity and promote religious tolerance across society. He also urged that priests offer special prayers during Easter services for the prosperity of Pakistan and peace in the region.
The minister directed the Suthra Punjab Authority to distribute Easter gifts among Christian employees and instructed all municipal chief officers to ensure provision of proper facilities in recreational parks during Easter celebrations.
He further directed district administration officers to inspect the fitness of swings and recreational equipment installed in parks to avoid any untoward incident during festive activities.
