People of KP laud PM for major cut in petrol prices

PESHAWAR, Apr 04 (APP): People across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) on Saturday widely welcomed Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif’s decision to significantly reduce petroleum prices, calling it a timely move that will bring much-needed relief to inflation-hit citizens.
Residents from remote regions including Chitral, Dera Ismail Khan, Waziristan, Swat. Dir, Mohmand, Abbottabad, Kohat, Kohistan and other districts expressed satisfaction over the government’s initiative, stating that the reduction would ease the financial strain on households already grappling with high living costs.
People belonging to various walks of life including traders, transporters, students, farmers, motorcyclists and members of the academic community hailed the decision as people-friendly.
Many said that declining fuel prices would have a positive ripple effect on the overall economy, particularly in reducing transportation costs and stabilizing prices of essential commodities.
Riazul Haq, a former Primary School Teacher, along with Misal Khan, a retired Information Officer, and farmer Fazal Rabi, were among those who praised the Prime Minister’s move.
They termed it a pro-people decision and emphasized that it reflects the government’s commitment to addressing public hardships.
They further said that in a province like Khyber Pakhtunkhwa where a large portion of the population depends on agriculture and daily wage labou, the lower fuel prices would directly impact affordability of goods and services. Transporters, in particular, indicated that the reduction of petroleum products could help prevent fare hikes, benefiting commuters across urban and rural areas alike.
Economic observers also pointed out that reduced petroleum prices may help curb inflationary pressures, especially on food items, as transportation is a key component in the supply chain.
Citizens expressed the hope that the government would continue to introduce such relief measures to support economic stability and improve living standards.
Overall, the announcement has been met with widespread appreciation, with many describing it as a step in the right direction toward public welfare and economic relief.
