SUKKUR, Apr 04 (APP): On the 47th death anniversary of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, Barrister Arslan Islam Sheikh, spokesperson for the Sindh government and Mayor of Sukkur, paid tribute to the late leader, saying he was a great leader, statesman and visionary who transformed Pakistan’s politics and empowered the masses.
In his statement on Saturday, Mayor Sukkur said that Bhutto was not just an individual but a symbol of revolutionary thinking and a historical struggle, Sheikh said.
He gave voice to the underprivileged, laborers, and farmers, and proved that “power belongs to the people.”
He said that Bhutto’s leadership laid the foundation for a strong and dignified Pakistan, and his decisions made the country an atomic power, making its defense invincible and strengthening its global position.
The recent Supreme Court decision is a testament to history acknowledging the truth, Sheikh said. Bhutto not only fought for the rights of the working class but also established a strong ideological front against feudal thinking, which continues to impact national politics.
Barrister Arslan said the new generation can learn from Bhutto’s political struggle, and people across Sindh, including Sukkur, reaffirm their commitment to advancing his ideology.
Bhutto’s legacy is a guarantee for democracy, constitutional supremacy, and protection of people’s rights in Pakistan, Sheikh added. The Pakistan People’s Party, under Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s leadership, continues to strive for the fulfillment of Bhutto’s golden principles of “Roti, Kapra, aur MaKaan.”
Sheikh prayed for Bhutto’s soul to rest in peace and for the nation to remain steadfast on his mission.
