LGH selected as training site for infection control diploma programme

LAHORE, Apr 03 (APP): Lahore General Hospital (LGH) has been selected by Health Services Academy as one of the four designated training sites in the country for the Postgraduate Diploma in Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) and Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR).
According to hospital administration, the selection reflects the institution’s strong performance in infection control practices and its commitment to quality healthcare delivery. During the first evaluation visit under the IPC programme, LGH secured the highest score among tertiary care hospitals across Punjab.
The visiting team from the Ministry of Health appreciated the hospital’s infrastructure, organised systems and effective implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), describing them as practical, sustainable and aligned with national standards. The SOPs were also termed a model for other healthcare institutions.
The administration said that the achievement was made possible through the collective efforts of the management, MSDS team and supporting staff under the supervision of Principal Prof. Farooq Afzal. It added that the development had also strengthened the hospital’s licensing process, particularly in meeting key infection control requirements.
Assistant Professor Pathology Dr. Amina, who serves as focal person of the MSDS team, will coordinate and supervise the training programme.
The administration termed the development a significant milestone, reflecting professionalism, teamwork and dedication, and setting a benchmark for healthcare institutions across the province.
