LAHORE, Apr 03 (APP):An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Friday extended the interim bail of Azam Khan Swati until May 7 in multiple cases linked to the May 9 riots, including attacks on Jinnah House, Askari Tower, and the torching of Shadman Police Station.
The hearing was conducted by ATC Judge Manzer Ali Gill. Swati did not appear before the court, while his counsel submitted a one-day exemption request from personal appearance, stating that the PTI senator was ill and admitted to a cardiology hospital in Peshawar, making him unable to travel.
The court accepted the exemption plea and extended his interim bail until the next hearing.
During proceedings, the court also directed defence counsel to complete arguments on the interim bail petitions at the next hearing.
Swati has filed pre-arrest bail applications in several May 9 cases involving attacks on installations in Lahore.
According to the prosecution, Swati and other leaders of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf face allegations of sedition and inciting party workers to commit arson, vandalism and violent protests during the unrest.
