LAHORE, Apr 03 (APP): The Punjab government has decided to establish state-of-the-art rehabilitation centers for the treatment and rehabilitation of drug addicts across the province.
According to official sources, the Chief Minister has given the green signal to the Punjab Health Department for the establishment of these centers, while this project will be included in the budget of the next financial year.
Officials say that the establishment of rehabilitation centers will be completed in two phases. In the first phase, modern rehab centers will be established at the divisional headquarters. While In the second phase, the scope of rehabilitation centres will be expanded to all districts.
It has been further informed that the districts where there are already government rehab centers will be upgraded (revamped) according to modern requirements.
According to the government, drug addicts will be provided not only treatment but also complete rehabilitation facilities in these centers so that they can rejoin society as healthy and productive citizens.
According to experts, this initiative can prove to be an important step in controlling the growing trend of drugs in the province.
