The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) Rawalpindi has intensified its crackdown against the sale of prohibited Chinese salt, seizing and destroying a large quantity during a recent operation.
460 kg of banned imported Chinese salt confiscated

RAWALPINDI, Apr 03 (APP): The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) Rawalpindi has intensified its crackdown against the sale of prohibited Chinese salt, seizing and destroying a large quantity during a recent operation.
According to PFA spokesperson on Friday, 460 kilograms of banned imported Chinese salt were confiscated and disposed of on the spot during a raid conducted in Ganjmandi. The seized stock was valued at approximately Rs750,000.
The action was taken against a local trader, and a case has been registered against the owners for illegally selling the prohibited product. Officials revealed that the salt had been concealed in rice sacks inside a warehouse in an apparent attempt to evade detection.
The spokesperson added that the operation was carried out after prolonged surveillance and on the basis of confidential intelligence reports.
Authorities reiterated that the sale and purchase of Chinese salt remain strictly banned across the province. Citizens have been urged to report any such violations by contacting the PFA helpline at 1223.
