Balochistan launches historic reforms to empower marginalized communities

Chief Minister of Balochistan, Mir Sarfraz Bugti, has reaffirmed his government’s commitment to empowering youth, women, minorities, and the transgender community, describing inclusivity as the foundation of a prosperous and developed province.

QUETTA, Apr 03 (APP): Chief Minister of Balochistan, Mir Sarfraz Bugti, has reaffirmed his government’s commitment to empowering youth, women, minorities, and the transgender community, describing inclusivity as the foundation of a prosperous and developed province.
Meeting with Uzma Yaqoob, Executive Director of FDI Pakistan, the chief minister discussed ongoing welfare projects and policy initiatives aimed at uplifting neglected segments of society.
 On the occasion, Sarfraz Bugti praised FDI Pakistan’s support in drafting Balochistan’s first transgender policy and presented Uzma Yaqoob with a certificate of excellence. Chief Secretary Shakeel Qadir Khan was also present.
Bugti highlighted several landmark initiatives currently underway including Benazir Bhutto Scholarship Program as the largest scholarship scheme in Balochistan’s history, opening doors for students from matriculation to higher education across 200 international universities.
He said the Balochistan government has also launched Women Economic Endowment Fund,  Providing interest-free loans ranging from Rs500,000 to Ps 1.5 million to help women establish businesses and achieve financial independence.
The Pink Bus Service and Pink Scooties Scheme to ensuring safe and dignified transport facilities for women.
The province’s first comprehensive youth policy, designed to secure a brighter future for young people.
Under the Transgender Policy, guaranteeing equal opportunities in education, employment, and social development for the transgender community.
The Minorities Endowment Fund is the first of its kind in Balochistan, dedicated to the welfare of minority communities.
The CM further noted that the government was covering 16 years of educational expenses for children of martyrs, while over 100 annual scholarships have been allocated specifically for minorities and transgender students.
“Empowering youth, women, minorities, and other marginalized groups is the cornerstone of a developed and prosperous Balochistan,” Sarfraz Bugti added. “The provincial government is determined to provide equal opportunities across education, health, and employment, ensuring that no segment of society is left behind.”
