Sun Yan reaffirms commitment to strengthening Pak-China cooperation

LAHORE, Apr 03 (APP):Consul General of China in Lahore, Sun Yan, has reaffirmed his commitment
to further strengthening Pakistan-China cooperation.He emphasized that China and Pakistan are all weather strategic cooperative partners, maintaining close coordination on regional and international affairs
while supporting each other on core interests.During his visit to Pakistan China Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCJCCI) here Friday, he highlighted recent diplomatic developments, and referred to the five-point consensus reached on March 31 regarding the regional situation.
The consensus called for an immediate ceasefire, promotion of peace talks, protection of civilians and critical infrastructure, safeguarding shipping lanes including the Strait of Hormuz, and upholding the principles of the UN Charter. He noted that this consensus reflects the responsible role of both China and
Pakistan in maintaining regional peace and stability.The Consul General also informed the participants about the successful 10th Round of China-Pakistan Consular Consultations held in Beijing on March 31. Both sides
discussed strengthening consular cooperation, facilitating cross-border movement, and ensuring the safety and rights of citizens and institutions, sending a positive signal for businesses and citizens of both countries.
Appreciating the initiatives of PCJCCI, he highlighted the success of China-Pakistan
Love Festival 2025 and acknowledged the Chamber’s efforts in language training,
policy guidance, talent development, and investment facilitation. He remarked that
PCJCCI had emerged as a vital platform for economic cooperation and a strong
bond of friendship between the two nations.
Consul General Sun Yan also emphasized that the CPEC had entered its second
phase of high-quality development, expanding cooperation into industrial collaboration,
agriculture modernization, information technology, and people’s livelihood sectors.
He expressed optimism for further collaboration with PCJCCI to create a favorable
business environment and elevate bilateral cooperation to new heights.
PCJCCI President Nazir Hussain highlighted the statement of Xi Jinping describing
Pakistan and China as a “community with a shared future,” calling it the foundation
of bilateral relations. He noted that CPEC 2.0 would further strengthen the partnership
and open new opportunities in technology, education, and innovation.
He also acknowledged China’s remarkable achievement of lifting over 800 million people
out of poverty and expressed Pakistan’s interest in learning from China’s development
model. He appreciated China’s support in May 2025, describing it as a benchmark for
cooperation between the two countries.
Salahuddin Hanif, Secretary General PCJCCI, emphasized that the business community
looks forward to continued support from the Chinese Consulate, particularly in facilitating
travel and business engagements. He reaffirmed that PCJCCI stands ready to assist the
Consul General in fulfilling his mission in Lahore and further strengthening Pakistan-China
relations.
The visit concluded with mutual commitment to deepen economic collaboration, enhance
business connectivity, and further strengthen the historic friendship between Pakistan
and China.
