KP receives heavy rains, inundated low laying areas

PESHAWAR, Apr 03 (APP):Heavy torrential rains swept across multiple districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Friday, causing significant disruption in power supply and flooding situation in low-lying areas.
Cities and districts including Peshawar, Nowshera, Charsadda, Khyber, Kurram, Swat, and Buner reported heavy rainfalls.
The intense rainfall led to the accumulation of water in streets and residential zones, particularly in low-lying areas where drainage systems were overwhelmed.
As a result, several localities experienced temporary flooding, making transportation difficult and disrupting daily life.
In addition to urban flooding, the water levels in streams, rivers, and local watercourses rose significantly.
Reports from Kurram, Nowshera, Swat, Khyber and Dir indicated an increase in the surface water level of streams, raising concerns about potential overflow and further flooding if rainfall continues.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, more rain is expected in various parts of the province over the next 24 hours. Authorities are remain on high alert, especially in vulnerable areas, to manage any emergency situations that may arise.
PDMA directed district administration to remain alert and provide relief to people during emergencies.
