BANNU, Apr 03 (APP):A suicide car bombing targeting Domel Police Station in Domel area here on Friday claimed the lives of at least five civilians and injured 13 others, including a police official.
The explosion caused extensive destruction to the police facility and nearby houses, district police said.
According to police the attacker drove an explosives-packed vehicle into the rear section of the police station, setting off a powerful blast that was heard across a wide area.
The explosion was followed by intermittent firing, creating panic in the locality.
Among those killed were four members of a single family including husband, wife, and their two children.
District Emergency Officer (DEO) Bakhtullah Wazir confirmed the casualties, stating that five people had died while 13 injured individuals were transported to hospitals. He added that some of the wounded were in serious condition.
Rescue 1122 teams rushed to the scene and began shifting the injured, though ongoing rainfall slowed down relief operations.
Rescuer officials also launched a comprehensive operation to clear debris and search for survivors.
Meanwhile, security forces sealed off the area and initiated a clearance operation.
