Khanjari, Governor Sindh review progress on Pakistan-Oman Ferry Service, other issues

KARACHI, Apr 02 (APP): Sindh Governor Syed Muhammad Nehal Hashmi and the Consul General of Oman and Dean of the Consular Corps Engr. Sami Abdullah Salim Al Khanjari reviewed progress on the proposed Pakistan-Oman Ferry Service and other matters of mutual interests.
During a meeting of the Consul General of Oman and Dean of the Consular Corps Engr. Sami Abdullah Salim Al Khanjari with Sindh Governor Nehal Hashmi at Governor House here Thursday, they discussed in detail “substantial and encouraging progress” toward launching the long-awaited maritime link, which is expected to open new economic corridors and strengthen regional connectivity. Both dignitaries expressed firm resolve to accelerate practical steps for its early operationalization.
In a forward-looking development, the meeting reached a principled decision to establish a dedicated special cell at the Governor House to aggressively pursue trade promotion and oversee exchange programs. The move reflects a strategic shift toward institutional coordination and sustained engagement.
The two sides also agreed to intensify cooperation across key sectors, including trade, education, exports and professional exchange initiatives, with an emphasis on delivering measurable outcomes. Enhanced coordination between the Governor House and the Dean of Consular Corps office was described as “critical” to ensuring momentum.
According to an official statement, the Omani Consul General apprised the Governor of plans to hold a Pakistan-Oman B2B exhibition in Oman, aimed at unlocking untapped commercial potential. He pointedly highlighted the rising demand in Oman for Pakistani nurses and pharmaceutical products, calling for targeted and more effective policy interventions to capitalize on these opportunities.
Both parties stressed the urgent need to scale up bilateral trade ties and expand exchange programs in a structured and impactful manner. They also called for the formulation of a joint strategy to significantly increase educational and professional avenues for youth, terming human capital development as central to long-term partnership.
Governor Syed Muhammad Nehal Hashmi asserted that coordinated and result-oriented initiatives would lead to a marked surge in investment, exports, and overall trade activity, reaffirming the government’s commitment to proactive economic diplomacy.
The meeting concluded with a strong and unequivocal pledge from both sides to further consolidate and sustain Pakistan-Oman relations, transforming them into a robust and mutually beneficial partnership.
