All out efforts being made to save lives of children in Thar: CM Sindh

HYDERABAD, Oct 26 (APP):Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has claimed that all efforts were being made to save the lives of children in Tharparkar however he said the children mortality rate in the district was lower than other parts of the country.
He said this while talking to media persons at the mausoleum of great mystic poet Hazrat Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai at
Bhit Shah town of Matiari district where he arrived on Friday to attend the concluding ceremony of 275th three-day annual urs celebrations.
Accompanied by Sindh ministers Makhdoom Mehboob-uz-Zaman, Faraz Dero, Syed Sardar Ali Shah and Abdul Bari Pitafi,
the Chief Minister said the child mortality rate in other parts of the country was about 70 to 100 children among each one
thousand whereas the number of children death in Thar desert was 50 to 60 among one thousand.
However, he said while realizing the fact, the provincial government was making all out efforts to control the increasing incidents of the children deaths in the desert district of the province.
To a question, he said that the provincial government was also making efforts to reactivate the non-functional Reverse Osmosis (RO) plants in Tharparkar. The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) government had established maximum numbers of RO
plants in the desert district, he said and added the present situation in Thar was better as compared to past.
Responding to a question about the JIT set up on the directives of the Chief Justice of Pakistan regarding money laundering, the Chief Minister said that the provincial government had extended maximum cooperation to JIT and provided all such information sought by it.
The Chief Justice of Pakistan also expressed satisfaction over timely submission of information to JIT and ordered to submit further information to JIT in time if demanded, he said and added that he was called by the Chief Justice today but due to
scheduled visit of Bhit Shah, he requested through Advocate General Sindh that he will appear tomorrow before the Chief Justice.
“We have always given due respect to judiciary and whenever required we will appear before the Supreme Court”, he said.
To another question about the accountability of NAB, the Chief Minister said that there was no objection on accountability,
but it should be carried out across the board. Though the accountability came under jurisdiction of the provincial government and
the Anti-Corruption Establishment was disposing its responsibility well, however there is no objection on the working of NAB,
Syed Murad Ali Shah said and added that the NAB should carry out accountability instead of political victimisation.
Replying to another question about any move of making crack in the ranks of PPP, Syed Murad Ali Shah said since childhood he was hearing such type of news but the fact is that all are united in the party.
Responding to a question about Sufi University in Bhit Shah town, the CM said that delay has occurred as there was no state land available in the town for establishment of the varsity, however, the issue would be resolved soon by the government.
About shortage of water in the town, Syed Murad Ali Shah said the entire province was in grip of the issue, however, the government was making all out efforts to resolve it at the earliest. The provincial government had made huge allocation in the
Annual Development Programme to address the issue of water shortage, he informed.
Earlier, the Chief Minister along with the provincial ministers laid wreaths and offered fateha at the Mazar of Hazrat
Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai. He also distributed clothes among widows and deserving women and listened to the Raag of Hazrat Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai.
