CM Bugti reviews fertilizer project feasibility, PPP model proposed for sustainable growth

QUETTA, Apr 01 (APP):A high-level meeting chaired by Mir Sarfraz Bugti was held at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat on Wednesday to review the feasibility of a fertilizer production project based on low BTU (British Thermal Unit) gas.

The meeting brought together key government officials and stakeholders, including Parliamentary Secretary for Energy Mir Asghar Rind, Chief Secretary Shakeel Qadir Khan, Vice Chairman of the Balochistan Board of Investment and Trade Bilal Khan Kakar, Energy Secretary Asfandyar Khan Kakar, CEO of BBoIT Qaim Lashari, and CEO of BECL Nawaz Bugti, along with other senior officials.

Participants conducted a detailed review of the project’s strategic, technical, and economic dimensions. Officials highlighted that the initiative is expected to play a pivotal role in boosting domestic fertilizer production, thereby strengthening national food security. Additionally, the project is anticipated to accelerate industrial development in the province and create new employment opportunities.

During the meeting, Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti directed that the project be implemented under a public-private partnership (PPP) model to ensure efficiency, attract investment, and maintain long-term sustainability.

He emphasized prioritizing job opportunities for local communities and called for special focus on developing allied and supporting industries to maximize the region’s economic and social benefits.

The meeting concluded with directives to relevant departments to complete the feasibility study within the stipulated timeframe and to ensure strong coordination and effective collaboration for the swift execution of the project.
