IHC disposes of plea regarding early announcement of Eid

ISLAMABAD, Apr 01 (APP):The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday disposed of a citizen’s petition to order an early announcement after sighting the moon of Eid.
During the hearing, petitioner Abdullah Shafiq appeared before the court in his personal capacity. Chief Justice Sarfaraz Dogar inquired whether he was bothered by the notice, to which the petitioner replied that no, he was not bothered.
During the hearing, the petitioner raised the issue of moon sighting with an inverted machine in the court and said that the machine with which the moon was seen was upside down. “I have that video and the mobile is kept outside the court”, he said.
The Chief Justice inquired whether there was any damage or problem if the machine was upside down. To which the petitioner said that Eid was on Friday, so the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee made Eid on Saturday. It is in the hadith that fasting to be observed after seeing the Ramzan moon and Eid to be observed after seeing the Shawal moon.
The Chief Justice said that he should present the details of this hadith in the court. The petitioner said that Religious Affairs has not submitted a response and the petition should be disposed of for the future. To which the court disposed of a citizen’s request to order an early announcement after sighting the Eid moon.
