MULTAN, Apr 01 (APP):Supremacy of the Constitution and stability of democracy are essential for national progress, said Chairman Senate Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani while talking to a delegation of District Bar Association Multan at Gilani House.
The delegation, led by President DBA Syeda Bushra Naqvi and General Secretary Malik Saadat Hussain, comprised newly elected office-bearers of the bar.
Gillani congratulated the office-bearers and paid tribute to Syeda Bushra Naqvi on becoming the first-ever woman president of Multan District Bar, calling it a landmark achievement for the region’s legal community.
He said the Pakistan Peoples Party has always upheld constitutional supremacy and democratic values, adding that the party rendered sacrifices for their continuity.
Highlighting the importance of judicial harmony, he said strong coordination between bar and bench was vital for ensuring justice. He also appreciated the role of the Multan Bar in raising issues of South Punjab.
Gilani assured the delegation of his continued support for the legal fraternity and acknowledged the bar as a historic institution committed to constitutional struggle.
The delegation invited him to visit the bar and address lawyers. Gilani accepted the invitation and assured that he would soon visit and make efforts to secure funding for the bar.
Among those present were Vice President Chaudhry Muhammad Naeem, Joint Secretary Nageena Muzaffar Haraj, Finance Secretary Rauf Ahmad Khan, Library Secretary Ammara Tahir Baloch, Auditor Jahanzeb Sial, PLF leader Nasheed Arif Gondal, and other members.
