UNITED NATIONS, Oct 25 (APP):Three more bomb-like devices were discovered Thursday, one in New York City near the offices of top Hollywood star Robert De Niro and two in Delaware addressed to former Vice President Joe Biden, bringing to 10 the number of devices addressed to high-profile critics of US President Donald Trump, according to American media reports.
These latest packages set off new alarms amid a sprawling investigation into explosive devices mailed to a string of politicians including former president Barack Obbama and former secretary of state Hillary Clinton, who have all crriticized President Trump.
Like the others, the packages sent to Biden and De Niro were intercepted before reaching their intended targets and did not detonate, the reports said. They also prompted a further surge of law enforcement activity as the effort to find the culprit or culprits, along with any other possible explosives, expanded farther across the country.
The packages addressed to Biden were found in two Delaware post offices, and they had similar markings and characteristics as on the other packages containing bombs on Wednesday.
The packages were taken to the FBI lab in Quantico, Virginia, for examination.
Biden spokesman Bill Russo declined to comment Thursday, referring questions to the FBI. It’s unclear if Biden is in Delaware or traveling on Thursday.
Amid the heightened state of alert, the House Cannon Office building was evacuated late Thursday morning. The Capitol Police did not immediately respond to a question about what caused the clearing.
As regards actor De Niro has been openly critical of Trump, knocking him as a “baby-in-chief” at the National Board of Review Awards in January and cursing the president at the Tony Awards in June.
