Aamir Awan murder case solved within 24 hours; notorious inter-provincial gang arrested

ISLAMABAD, Mar 31 (APP):The federal capital’s police on Tuesday announced the arrest of all suspects involved in the killing of prominent businessman Aamir Awan, resolving the case in less than 24 hours.
Awan was shot dead during a robbery attempt at his farmhouse late Sunday night, triggering widespread concern among citizens and the business community.
At a press conference, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad revealed that 17 specialized teams were formed, supported by Safe City surveillance, AI-assisted digital tracking, geofencing, and cellular technology. A total of 257 CCTV feeds were analyzed, 93 individuals were interrogated, and 31 raids were conducted across Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Charsadda, and Mardan.
Police arrested five members of the Mansoor Khan gang — an armed inter-provincial group notorious for operating in bulletproof vests. The gang included two illegal Afghan nationals. Weapons, including a snatched Kalashnikov, and mobile phones stolen from the victim’s guards were recovered.
Authorities stated that Islamabad has witnessed a 63% drop in heinous crimes and a 78% reduction in general crime over the past year, crediting improvements in technology, policing, and the ongoing transformation of the Safe City project into Pakistan’s first AI-driven Smart City.
Despite the resolution, officials acknowledged that Aamir Awan’s death was an irreplaceable loss, but assured citizens that no blind murder or robbery-cum-murder case in the capital has remained unsolved.
