WASA to make solar systems operational at all disposal stations by April 30

FAISALABAD, Mar 30 (APP):Water & Sanitation Agency (WASA) Managing Director (MD) Saqib Raza has directed WASA officers that solar systems installed at all disposal stations should be made fully operational by April 30 to reduce the growing energy burden on the utility.
Chairing a meeting, he said that Punjab Energy Efficiency & Conservation Agency (PEECA) had installed solar systems at 18 WASA units with the objective of cutting electricity costs and promoting energy efficiency.
He said that in line with this objective, it had been decided to ensure the complete operationalization of all installed solar systems within the stipulated timeframe.
To monitor and expedite the process, the MD WASA constituted a three-member committee comprising of Director O&M East Nauman Noor, Deputy Director Ms. Brera and Deputy Director Electrical Cell Ms. Kanza.
The committee has been tasked for removing all hurdles in activating the solar systems at the identified units and ensuring their full functionality by April 30, he added.
Saqib Raza assured that the WASA administration would extend full support to the committee in achieving the target within given deadline.
He said that once operational, the solar systems would significantly reduce WASA’s energy expenditures, aligning with the vision of Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Maryam Nawaz for energy efficiency and cost reduction.
Special measures are being taken to implement this initiative effectively, which would not only lower operational costs but also contribute to sustainable energy use in the city, he added.
