FAISALABAD, Mar 30 (APP):The Divisional Administration Faisalabad and major industrial associations on Monday signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to relocate hazardous industries from urban areas to designated zones, aiming to curb environmental pollution, enhance public safety and promote sustainable industrial development.
The agreement brings together key stakeholders, including the Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FCCI), All Pakistan Textile Processing Mills Association (APTPMA), Pakistan Hosiery Manufacturers & Exporters Association (PHMA),Faisalabad Chamber of Small Traders & Small Industry (FCSTSI) and All Pakistan Textile Sizing Industries Association (APTSIA).
Under the MoU,industrial units currently operating in densely populated areas will be gradually relocated to designated industrial zones outside city limits.
The administration will develop at least two industrial zones equipped with essential infrastructure, including road networks, electricity, gas, water and drainage systems, waste management facilities and Effluent Treatment Plants (ETPs) to meet environmental standards.
The move was expected to reduce environmental hazards, ease pressure on civic infrastructure and create facilitation based zones to attract industrial investment.
Industrial associations have pledged full cooperation, raising awareness among stakeholders and encouraging participation in the relocation process.
A Joint Coordination Committee comprising representatives from the administration, industrial bodies and government departments will oversee the phased relocation, monitor progress and address operational challenges.
Officials said the initiative lays a strong foundation for transforming Faisalabad into a safer and environmentally sustainable industrial hub.
